Dino Rossi faces every Republican congressional candidate’s biggest opponent: Nancy Pelosi

Dino Rossi faces every Republican congressional candidate's biggest opponent Nancy Pelosi

United States House of Representative candidate Dino Rossi in Washington’s 8th district has a big target on his back. He’s in a traditionally red district but has a popular opponent giving him a run for his money.

Oh, and he has Representative Nancy Pelosi coming after him too.

Democrats want control of the House so badly they can practically taste it already. Pelosi has gone so far as to declare victory already. That can’t happen.

Unfortunately, Republicans around the nation are getting outspent by Pelosi and her cronies, making it an uphill battle for the GOP to retain control. The good news is with people like Rossi leading the charge to retain control, the chances of victory are increasing at the right moment just days before the election.

Rossi understands his challenge.

“My opponent’s #1 supporter is Nancy Pelosi who’s probably spent more money against me than any other human being in America at this point in time. Over $4 million dollars with these negative ads, false ads.”

Republicans were unable to raise the money Democrats did this election cycle, but that doesn’t mean they’re going to lose. Lest we forget, Hillary Clinton was a fundraising maniac who outspent Donald Trump by hundreds of millions of dollars. Their chances of taking the House aren’t nearly as good as they’d like to believe.

What really separates Tom Brady from every other player on the field

What really separates Tom Brady from every other player on the field

Every season, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady gains more people who believe he’s the greatest of all time. It has been a long road for him because he didn’t have the pedigree that other potential GOATs had. He wasn’t the #1 pick in the NFL draft like John Elway or Terry Bradshaw. He was drafted in the 6th round. He didn’t come in with lots of fanfare. His first starting job came as a result of Drew Bledsoe’s injury. He doesn’t have a flashy style like Brett Favre, a complex system like Peyton Manning, or a cannon for an arm like Aaron Rodgers.

He just wins.

The key to his winning ways may have nothing to do with his strong skills, good supporting cast, or excellent game plans. It may just come down to hard work and good ol’ fashioned competitiveness. His mental toughness has been likened to Larry Bird’s or Evander Holyfield’s, two greats in their sports who made up for physical deficiencies by constantly improving mentally even when they weren’t at the top physically.

“Every quarterback can throw a ball; every running back can run; every receiver is fast; but that mental toughness that you talk about translates into competitiveness.”

Football is more than just a physical sport. As Tom Brady has demonstrated, mental toughness may be even more important than 40-yard-dash times or arm strength.

Democrats need a reminder of Nikki Haley’s clear perspective on immigration

Democrats need a reminder of Nikki Haley's clear perspective on immigration

There are two false narratives being shared by most Democrats and leftist media. First, they say there’s no illegal immigration problem at the border that can be partially fixed by a border wall. Second, they believe that Republicans are against legal immigration.

It’s been a long time since a Republican, including the President, has said or done anything against legal immigration. The antiquated notion that all Republicans are racist is clearly untrue. Because of the Democrats’ insatiable hatred for President Trump, they’ve increased their racist rhetoric against Republicans by injecting both false accusations and identity politics into every conversation.

Former United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley has plenty of experience dealing with foreign policy issues. Contrary to popular belief, immigration is a foreign policy issue. It may affect us at home, but the core of the problem is our relationships with and proximity to other nations whose people want to live and work here.\

She also had to deal with it as Governor of South Carolina, so she’s experienced the executive and diplomatic aspects of both legal and illegal immigration. This makes her perspective on the issue more informed than most.

In a quote, she laid out very clearly the perspectives necessary to tackle our border security issue. On one hand, we must stop illegal immigration. It does great harm to the United States and American citizens. On the other hand, we are a nation that has always embraced legal immigration as a means to make the nation stronger. She says it much better in her quote:

“We must fix our broken immigration system. That means stopping illegal immigration. And it means welcoming properly vetted legal immigrants, regardless of their race or religion. Just like we have for centuries.”

Democrats need to be reminded that border security isn’t an expression of racism just as illegal immigration isn’t a version of legal immigration. We have to reduce one in order to justify or even increase the other.

A reminder to GOP lawmakers from Justin Amash

A reminder to GOP lawmakers from Justin Amash

When Representative Justin Amash (R-MI) hadn’t been in Washington DC for very long when he said this amazing quote. At the time, many weren’t paying much attention. After all, many Republicans say similar things when they get to DC, but over time they become jaded, corrupted, or start to get used to being in the DC Country Club.

Amash is different. He has remained consistent with his message and views throughout his career. Now, it’s time for other Republicans to remember what they were sent to Washington DC to do in the first place. Defense of the Constitution is their top priority as it’s the best protection against a government that wants desperately to control every aspect of our lives. From healthcare to the internet to how we use our energy, government intervention has become so commonplace, it’s often hard to see the fabric of our nation behind all the layers of bureaucracy that has been placed on top of it.

“I follow a set of principles, I follow the Constitution. And that’s what I base my votes on. Limited government, economic freedom and individual liberty.”

If more Republicans followed the same principles and didn’t just use them in campaign speeches, we may actually be able to return liberties that have been taken and remove layers of government that have been formed unnecessarily.
