Harry Reid weighed in on birthright citizenship in 1993

It’s a good thing Harry Reid left politics. As leftist as he was, he’d never fit in with today’s Democratic Party. They’d probably run him out of office and call him a bigot for his comments from 1993.

“If making it easy to be an illegal alien isn’t enough, how about offering a reward for being an illegal alien,” he said on the Senate floor. “No sane country, would do that, right? Guess again.

“If you break our laws by entering this country without permission and give birth to a child, we reward that child with U.S. citizenship and guarantee full access to all public and social services this society provides. And that’s a lot of services. Is it any wonder that 2/3rds of babies born at taxpayer expense at county-run hospitals in Los Angeles are born to illegal alien mothers?”

Wow. He sounds downright Republican. There was a time not too long ago when members of the Democratic Party actually had common sense and didn’t change facts to prove their narrative. Those days are behind us now.
