This is one part of a short series regarding Pope Francis’ Christmas Day comments insinuating President Trump and the United States must change our policy on Jerusalem and migrants.
As things currently stand, there is absolutely no way Jerusalem will be divided as part of a two-state solution. Things can change quickly as we’ve learned in recent years, but the international outcry to split Jerusalem by forming a Palestinian state in the West Bank and Gaza Strip is irrational. Unless the country is someday governed by suicidal leaders, it’s not going to happen.
The international community, led by the anti-Israel puppets at the United Nations, wants President Trump and the United States to halt our recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Now, Pope Francis has joined the public outcry. He used his widely watched Christmas Day address to push the two-state solution and condemn the United States for supporting a united Jerusalem.
As Mitchell Bard noted on Fox News, Palestinians (and therefore the rest of the world) must put a halt to their “Palestinian Derangement Syndrome”:
Palestinians must accept the reality of Israel as a Jewish state to achieve peace
Nations around the world have condemned the U.S. for recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, saying the recent move by President Trump is an obstacle to an Israeli-Palestinian peace settlement. But the real obstacle to peace is the stubborn refusal by Palestinian leaders to accept the reality of Israel as a permanent Jewish state in the historic homeland of the Jewish people.
This refusal to accept reality can be labeled Palestinian Derangement Syndrome. As long as Palestinian leaders continue to embrace it, they will not agree to a fair and realistic peace deal acceptable to any Israeli government. And as a result, ordinary Palestinians will suffer.
What Bard points out in the article is correct. Palestinians are much better off in Israel than under the heartless leadership of Mahmoud Abbas. There are plenty of Palestinians who agree with Abbas and would love to see Israel completely wiped from the map, but two-thirds of them want Abbas to end his tenure immediately. They aren’t outsiders being manipulated by the BDS movement or other anti-Israel elements. They live their lives knowing the reality that while they might want a Palestinian state, they’re doing better than their brothers and sisters in other Middle East nations. Many are willing to fight to keep Israel as a complete nation rather than allowing the oppressive rule of Abbas, Hamas, and Hezbollah to take over.
These sentiments don’t make headlines. If all we listened to was mainstream media and United Nations propaganda, Palestinians are all oppressed and in need of the world to come in and save them from the evil Israelis. What we don’t hear in the news is that the quiet majority in “occupied” lands preferred it when Israel was more directly in control. In those days, hospitals and schools weren’t used as cover for artillery units. Expression of pro-Israel views wouldn’t get them dragged into the streets and stoned. Supplies designated for the people weren’t siphoned off to support terrorists.
What the Pope and the rest of the world want to do is split Jerusalem. They may or may not realize that doing so sets up Israel for the same type of attacks they’ve faced in the past when Muslim nations had the strategic advantage to do so. In a nation the size of New Jersey, it’s utter insanity to expect them to shrink their barely defensible borders and allow a Palestinian state to be the proxy for their enemies. That’s what this really comes down to when all the rhetoric is put aside.
I’ve often wondered if the world’s hatred for Israel is so strong, they push for a two-state solution and a split Jerusalem because they know it could lead to the destruction of the Jewish state. Today, America and Israel are essentially alone. There are others reportedly starting to embrace sanity, but the majority of the world seems bent on Israel’s eventual downfall.
