‘My God, my Lord protected me’: NRA instructor who stopped Sutherland Springs church shooter

Published

on

Stephen Willeford exchanged fire with church shooter Devin Patrick Kelley on Sunday. He and Johnnie Langendorff chased Kelley until he ran off the road. Undoubtedly, as Caleb Howe observed, he saved lives.

This is what Willeford, an NRA member and firearms instructor, said about himself, and who deserves credit.

I’m no hero. I am not. I think my God, my Lord protected me and gave me the skills to do what needed to be done. And I just wish I could have gotten there faster. But I didn’t know–I didn’t know what was happening.

The leftwing media frequently portrays NRA members as rabid wannabe heroes who brandish their weapons like criminals and gang members. In reality, Willeford is the average NRA firearms instructor. Not a hero, just a citizen who does what he has to do.
