For all the problems we may have with radio corporations like iheart Media, Cumulus, Townsquare, just to name a few, we should not overlook Educational Media Foundation aka EMF. While it had humble beginnings as a single radio station in Santa Rosa, California in 1982 some of K-LOVE’s fundraising tactics should come into question. K-LOVE has become the biggest brand in Christian Music radio and one has to wonder if they have become an empire in decline, just as iheart and Cumulus are. I am not hoping that K-LOVE fails but just because it’s focus is on music, it should not stop us from holding them accountable in the same way we put punks on the hot seat like Robert Tilton and Benny Hinn.
K-LOVE Still Won’t Reveal How Much Was Raised During Pledge Drive
Even though nobody I talked to at K-LOVE seemed to know how much they wanted to raise, they had to keep begging for money to reach it. I tried to find out how much K-LOVE raised during pledge drive. The giant radio organization had a surplus of over $60-million in 2016 so it isn’t clear why they needed to engage in such urgent solicitations.
