Something strange happened on a phone call Natasha De Alencar received from the President after her husband was killed in Afghanistan. Despite expectations from mainstream media and liberals alike, the President sounded… normal. He wasn’t a monster. He didn’t insult the family of the fallen nor the fallen himself.
He had a conversation one would expect from a President calling a grieving spouse. It was, perhaps, a bit Trumpier than most would be. He was especially intrigued that their 20-year-old son played football for Missouri after getting an academic scholarship. He asked if all of her five children were exceptional or if some of them were bad. It wasn’t in bad taste. It was just very… Trumpy.
Nonetheless, it was a respectful and sincere call handled in a way the media would hate to expose. News is news, so Washington Post released the video taken from Alencar’s end.
