Did Trump trade away the wall in DACA deal with Democrats?

Published

Democrats DACA deal

This is simply too hard to believe for us to state it as fact until it’s confirmed from the horse’s mouth. At the time of this writing, the White House itself has said that it’s not true. Could a U.S. Senator and Congresswoman be overstating, misled, or outright lying?

Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi put out a joint statement claiming the President agreed to their DACA deal that would “enshrine the protections of DACA into law quickly” while improving border security WITHOUT President Trump’s infamous border wall as part of the deal. The White House disagrees. Here are the competing Tweets:

The funny part is that this could turn into just the distraction the president needed in order to get DACA passed without his base too upset. Remember, candidate Trump was quite adamant that DREAMers and their families needed to be deported. There were even protests from parts of his base about the notion that he’d “work with them” to make it easier for them to get back into the country legally. Now, he’s not even going to deport them. Imagine a scenario where he comes out, says he’s building the wall with or without the Democrats, gets a DACA deal done, and his base cheers. Why? Because he will have demonstrated strength in the face of adversity by sticking true to his wall promise even if his DACA promise was pushed aside. Clever stuff.

Reactions have been swift, though many are being edited to include the Press Secretary’s comments.

Final Thoughts

Until this is confirmed by the White House, we’re not going to jump to any conclusions. It’s sad when you have to question the accuracy of an official joint statement from a Congresswoman and Senator, but that’s the state of affairs in Washington DC today.

Daniel Horowitz on illegal immigrant birth rates

There’s more to the illegal immigration debate than just how to stop them from coming over. Once here, they’re figuring out how to stick around and grow as a future influence on the United States.

Conservative Review’s Daniel Horowitz sent this out on Twitter:

This is more than a problem we’re facing now. It’s becoming generational.

Harley Rouda claims he never said he’d expand MediCal to adult illegal immigrants. This is a lie.

Harley Rouda claims he never said hed expand MediCal to adult illegal immigrants This is a lie

Orange County, California, has an interesting choice to make. One of the hottest Congressional races in the nation pits incumbent Representative Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) against Democrat Harley Rouda. Orange County has been one of the only Republican strongholds in the liberal state, but a district that voted for Hillary Clinton may also switch to have a Democrat representing them on Capitol Hill.

The problem with Rouda is that his version of the truth doesn’t always match the actual truth. A glaring example of this is how he handled two questions regarding providing health care to adult illegal immigrants.

When vying for the Democratic nomination, he appealed to the leftist view that “Medicare for all” should be expanded to “for all residents of the United States” regardless if they’re citizens or here illegally.

Now that the primary is over and he’s on to the general election, he’s denying that he ever said that.

Harley Rouda Supported Medicaid for Illegal Immigrants but Now Denies It

https://freebeacon.com/politics/harley-rouda-supported-medicaid-illegal-immigrants-now-denies/“Rohrabacher has said that you want to give MediCal to undocumented immigrants and that this goes against what the district wants,” editors from the publication said. “How would you respond to this idea that you don’t know what the district wants?”

MediCal is California’s Medicaid program for low income individuals and families.

“I’ve never said that,” Rouda responded. “The fact is, you could argue the United States has already paid for universal health care in the least efficient way possible—in the emergency room instead of through preventive care. We need to have basic levels of medical services available to all. Addressing undocumented immigrants in our country shouldn’t be done by withholding life-saving medication or healthcare services.”

Will one of the last bastions for rational conservative ideologies in California fall for a man who says one thing to his Democrats but change his story when speaking to a broader audience? Orange County needs Dana Rohrabacher to keep his seat.

Media panned the Protect Kids and Parents Act because it was introduced by Dave Brat and Ted Cruz

Media panned the Protect Kids and Parents Act because it was introduced by Dave Brat and Ted Cruz

The narrative by Democrats and mainstream media is that Republicans in general and conservatives in particular want to do everything they can to stop people seeking asylum in the United States. They even get painted as wanting to break up families and keep children separated from their parents.

This is why H.R. 6195 and S. 3091 are so important. The bills, introduced by Representative Dave Brat (R-VA) and Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), would keep children and their parents together while waiting for a hearing about their asylum status. It would also act to expedite the process for all asylum seekers while putting those with children on a faster track.

That certainly doesn’t sound like the kind of bill Republicans would introduce if you’re listening to mainstream media’s narrative. It also breaks the stereotype assigned to Tea Party favorites like Representative Brat and Senator Cruz.

Known as the “Protect Kids and Parents Act,” it would increase the number of authorized immigration judges as well as Homeland Security employees to allow for faster processing of more asylum applicants.

My Take

Senator Ted Cruz introduced the Senate version that was instantly attacked by leftist media. It wasn’t because of substance that the bill was attacked. It was because of the bill’s originators. It’s important to note that the “who” is more important than the “what” when it comes to media coverage.

For example, President Trump’s tariffs on China are straight out of Senators Chuck Schumer’s and Bernie Sanders’ playbooks. Schumer went so far as to reluctantly praise the President over it, but mainstream media and leftist news outlets continuously run stories about the negative effects of the President’s tariffs. Had the identical action been taken by President Obama, the media’s reaction would be the opposite of what it is today.

When Dave Bratt and Ted Cruz try to keep asylum-seeking families together, their motives are instantly questioned by leftist media because it doesn’t fit the stereotype attached to them. If substance mattered to the media, they’d support the bill.
